Established in 1968 by Tony Elliott, Time Out Group is a British media and hospitality enterprise with its headquarters situated in London, United Kingdom. Its online and offline presence includes markets, social media, live events, mobile versions, and websites. Time Out reports on culture, events, and entertainment in cities all around the world.

Time Out’s annual survey, which asks city dwellers worldwide to tell them what it’s like to live, work, and play in their hometowns right now, takes all of that into account and more when determining the 50 greatest cities in 2024.

A global ranking of the greatest cities in the world for this year is also derived from the thoughts and observations of residents living in the area as well as their extensive global network of city specialists. The group said: “As in previous years, the basis of the ranking remains our global survey of the people who know their city best: the locals. Working with research company Potentia Insight, we surveyed thousands of city-dwellers about the quality and affordability of food, culture and nightlife in their city.”

Time Out also asked locals questions such as: how their city makes them feel: are they happy there? Is it a beautiful place? Is it easy to make social connections? “Their thousands of responses gave us a unique insight into the reality of living in the world’s greatest cities right now.”
