Africa has the world’s oldest record of human technological achievement: the oldest stone tools in the world have been found in eastern Africa, and later evidence for tool production by our hominin ancestors has been found across sub-Saharan Africa.

The sector is still a largely untapped market, particularly in remote, off-the-grid places. Technology in Africa is becoming more than just a social venture or narrow business proposition. The continent’s tech movement will infuse every facet of the sub-Saharan Africa. Most of the issues faced by the continent will be solved through the use of technology.

As the continent transitions from the margins to the mainstream of the global economy, technology is playing an increasingly significant role. Bolstering regional trends in business, investment and modernization is the emergence of an IT ecosystem a growing patchwork of entrepreneurs, tech ventures and innovation centres coalescing from country to country.
