Rescue operation under way after six-storey residential structure in the Kenyan capital collapses, Aljazeera reports.
At least two people have been killed in Nairobi after a six-storey residential building collapse. Although, rescuers struggled to reach those feared trapped under collapsed buildings.
Kenya Red Cross said in a Twitter post that 11 people had been rescued by late afternoon, but the exact number of people in the building before its collapse is yet to be known.
The Nairobi regional police commander, Reuben Ndolo says, three people have died, and 27 others have been rushed to hospital. One was seriously injured, Reuters news agency reports.
“Tragedy has struck us again,” public works official Gordon Kihalangwa said. “Some people have been trapped inside and we are doing our best to free them.”
